Mdina war im Mittelalter die Hauptstadt Maltas und liegt im Zentrum der Insel. Autos und Hupen sind in der Stadt verboten und so hat sie heute den Spitznamen „stille Stadt“. Früher war Mdina ein Militärstützpunkt und große Bastionen bestimmen auch heute noch die Stadt. Besonders interessant sind auch die Katakomben.
Nach einem traditionellen maltesischen Mittagessen gehen Sie durch die Botanischen Gärten von St. Anton. Dann blicken Sie maltesischen Kunsthandwerkern in den Ta’Qali Werkstätten über die Schulter und können gleich vor Ort einheimisches Kunsthandwerk kaufen, wie etwa Töpferwaren oder filigranen Schmuck.
